We just received a big boost! $2,300 from the Historic Buildings Emergency Fund and $8,400 from the Pacte rural, both from the MRC Coaticook, many thanks. We will be repairing the church spire shortly.
Radio-Canada paid us a visit. Here’s their broadcast (how’s your French?)

On behalf of the Minister de la Culture, des Communications et de la
Condition féminine Christine St-Pierre, Orford Deputy Pierre Reid MNA,
announces the financial assistance of $150,500 in support of the Anglican
Church of the Epiphany, in Barnston-West.
“Here is another excellent example of our efforts toward the
conservation of our regional religious heritage. The interior of this church is
a true treasure which has kept all its beauty in spite of being 123 years old
but it is also necessary to protect it from bad weather by renovating the
exterior, respecting its original architecture”, declared the OrfordDeputy.
Built in 1888, the ‘Church of the Epiphany’, inspired by neo-gothic
architecture in wood is regarded as having a patrimonial value of “B
-exceptional”, by the Ministry of Culture. This assistance will enable the
restoration of the roof, the bell-tower, the renewal of the exterior wooden
outside and the windows. The total cost of project is estimated at $215,000.
The ministry will be investing $150,500 while local communities are expected to
supplement the rest of the cost.
